Introduction of Web Browser, Web Browsing, Web Page, Web Server and a Website
Web Browser & Web Browsing:
Searching information on the World Wide Web is known as Web Browsing. A software known as Web browser is used to search and view web pages on the Internet. Hundreds of thousands of web pages are available on the World Wide Web that covers information on almost every topic. Software that allows the Internet users to find, view, retrieve and send information over the Internet is called web browser. Most commonly used Web Browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc. Search engines are the special websites that provide facility to Internet users to search information on the Internet. Google.com, ask.com, yahoo.com are very popular search engines.
Web Page:
Tim Berners-Lee created the first web page on 6th August, 1991 at CERN (Conseil European pour la Recherche Nuclaire) Laboratory. A web page is a document that is written in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). The language allows embedding hyperlinks (or simply link) in the document. A hypertext document is also called a Web Page. User accesses the WebPages of a website by entering URL address on a web browser. Web pages contain graphics, text and hyperlinks to other web pages and files.
Web Server:
A web server is a program that delivers web pages (content or services) by using HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) to the users over the internet. Web Server is also called internet server.
Website:
A website is a collection of web pages or the set of related web pages is called a website. Website is hosted on a web server. Each website on the internet contains a home page. A page that sees the user first on any website is called homepage. A user can get access to all other pages from the home page of a website through a web browser. For example, www.tipsandarticles.com is the website address which contains different web pages. A website is a central location that contains one or more web pages.
